Stephen and I were trying to make it to Burning Man this year though making the trek was ultimately deemed silly. Considering we are moving to the West coast this winter, plans for the event will be much more effective come this time next year.

All images I've ever seen of the burn are amazing (simply because the event is out of this world), though I think these particular photographs are crucial. Although I've never been, the atmospheric feel of this work by Samantha Casolari make me feel even closer to Black Rock Desert.

*ps - I feel like I should start doing weekly blog posts on reasons (#2365+) why moving to California is so exciting.
I can't wait - so many exciting changes in the near future!

I've had a pretty good response to my little Pretty Shredded Pastels collection so I added a few more pieces (and *pssst* one in the SALE section) to the shop. Soak up summer tie dye while you can!

Once my One-Of-A-Kind items are purchased from the shop, I often mostly forget about them. Here are my favorites from my Recycled Treasures: Remnants of Mexico series. The last one has already sold but I'll enjoy looking at it here and knowing it went to a good home.

Just came across this little picture of my shredded tees hanging in IDOM boutique! If you happen to find yourself in Portland, Oregon - this lovely little shop is located at 827 NW 23rd Ave.

love from - For Me, For You

Kate recently bought this leaf necklace from my Nature in City, glass jewelry series and I'm so happy to see her wearing it. Hopefully I'll be able to get back on the torch in a few weeks. It's been almost three months and I really really miss it.
Check out Kate's blog - For Me, For You. She has a beautiful knack for capturing her day to day (and she makes jewelry too!).

Jewelry listed!

Photobucket

All but two items have been listed within my new Recycled Treasures: Remnants of Mexico jewelry series! Pretty happy with how they turned out... surprisingly there are a few I'd rather not part with. Usually when I make something I grow tired of looking at it and want to move to the next thing immediately. These are fun though - the process of finding the shells happened over the course of a great vacation. Also, in the past, I've thrown away the extra fabric bits used to make the braids. Definitely trying not to do that anymore... expect a lot of braids in the future.
:)

ps - have you checked out the new shop layout? something to adjust to but I think it makes everyone's shop look fantastic!

OMG INK!

I've been debating tattoos for many years now - holding onto an idea until I see it done, drawing all over my feet and arms to determine placement, researching the history, etc etc etc. Although, I've never felt satisfied enough to make the leap.
As of recently I've been really considering it though - having just graduated from college and about to embark on a move to the other side of the country... seems like a good time to ink up some skin, ya know? I discovered Amanda Wachob the other day and I'm growing determined to make a trip to New York before our move. This work is unlike anything I've seen and I am SO into it!

Check out Amanda's website. I'm telling you, this girl is aaamazing.

The rest of my photo shoot with Jenny is now up in the shop! I've really been enjoying taking new photographs and improving the store, though starting to feel like I need a break! This weekend we are going to Camp Barefoot music festival and I can't wait to be out of cell phone/wi-fi range for a little while. Sometimes I stare at my computer screen for so long I almost start to think everything I make is awful. Kind of like when you look at a word too long you think it's spelled wrong. Make sense?
Aaaanyway, new jewelry line tomorrow!

Preview: Recycled Treasures, Remnants of Mexico...

Photobucket

Here's a little preview of my new jewelry line I spoke about last week. My goal is to list these in the shop on Monday. Even though I had originally planned for a few days ago... things have been crazy around here! I always seem to think there are more than enough hours in a day.
At least I never get bored!

~ feel like a butterfly ~

Photobucket

My friend Jenny and I worked on another UrbanRevisions photoshoot over the weekend. We found some amazingly colorful locations and I can't wait to list new items in the shop! I'm pretty swamped till this weekend but for the meantime check out this new style I just listed... Shredded T-Shirt No. 19. A new favorite of mine - this top has a "butterfly" feel to it and it truly looks amazing on everyone.

Happy Wednesday!

Bre of Scout & Catalogue has arrived in Toronto (from Mexico) and as of yesterday her Etsy shop is back in swing! I wrote about her work this past winter and her store has really taken off since then... I love these leather bottom totes! So cool.

- remnants of Mexico -

Photobucket
Photobucket

This past Christmas my family and I vacationed in Mexico. We stayed in Puerto Penasco and it was a truly wonderful holiday. I took these photographs while shell hunting and came home with a huge bag of beautiful treasures. Finally getting around to what I intended - I've been creating some jewelry for the shop. Really summer-y pieces but like I've already said in a recent post, it's always summer somewhere! Expect the new "Recycled Treasures: Remnants of Mexico" jewelry line to surface next week...

Uploading three new styles to UrbanRevisions today. I'm really happy to be diversifying my model spectrum - love Stephanie's red hair and freckles. We shot these at the top of Church Hill which overlooks the James river and downtown Richmond. A few of the shots include the Lucky Strike tower, a well known RVA landmark.

The treasury I made this morning is currently gracing the front page of Etsy.
Always exciting to do curations. Even though it seems like most are gearing up for Fall... it's always summer somewhere, right?

I am a big fan of Lauren Manoogian's work. These images inside her studio were taken for elle.com. I love them! I have been researching/craving my own knitting loom for a while now... the purchase will have to wait (*cough* birthday?) till after my big move this winter but geez - dosen't this all look splendid?

choices...

One of the biggest adjustments I've made to the shop recently - all *made to order* items can now be purchased in an array of hand dyed colors and sizes! The "oversize" styles are still made from XL's for now but other pieces can be made from small, medium, large and x-large. Below is the color swatch chart available for all scarves and crew neck styles (v-neck style colors do not include black or gray). This fall I will be adding a handful of more colors (green, brown?) so stay tuned...

Yay for options!

bubble dreams

When I have trouble falling asleep at night, I often find myself stumbling around the internet to make my eyes tired. Often times I find things so inspiring that can't turn my brain off for hours. It's a beautiful struggle.

But man, did I get lucky tonight. This guy and his bubbles... mesmerizing and relaxing.
I think I'll have to watch this again in the morning.

excuse me, your aura is showing...

Photobucket

When I first saw these images, I was amazed at their "aura - like" qualities... no doubt about it - I kept reading and I am all about it - I want mine taken!

"These portraits are made with an aura camera -- a modified Polaroid camera developed by an American scientist in an attempt to record what a psychic might see. This project explores the idea that a portrait photograph can reveal an otherwise unseen and accurate insight into the subject's character, and their interaction with the photographer..."
