Holiday 2011

Not many pictures have been taken lately. All of my time this past week consisted of sitting around my Mama's house - eating turkey, mint chocolate chip cookies and watching movies. Yesterday, Stephen and I flew into Atlanta to hang with friends and attend our five night STS9 New Years run. Saturday night is going to be a serious dance party! Also, sooo excited - we're planning a trip to the Georgia Aquarium tomorrow... apparently it's the biggest in the world.

Mama gifted me an interchangeable crochet kit for Christmas. I've never worked with such small needles before, should be interesting for necklace making. Julia sent me the hot pink bag - a birthday present to myself and I am in love with it. Buttery soft leather and such a fun color.

I hope you all had a wonderful holiday!

< quarter century life >

I am 25 today!
And it seems so strange... still feel 19 and just as silly as I was when this picture was taken. Never gonna grow up! No way.
Thanks to everyone that placed holiday orders in the shop these past two weeks!!

Boman Leung

You may remember I mentioned Boman's work and her use of my cluster rings not too long ago...
She just sent me these new images and I'm even more in love with her design. That jacket!!!

free99 pottery + tie dye glass

If you follow me on Twitter you may have seen similar images and exclamation points over the weekend.
I came home from running errands Saturday morning to find a grocery bag on my front stoop with "Free Pottery" written on it... free stuff is always great - especially when it's handmade! Totally made my day.
On Sunday I found a can of hot pink spray paint buried in one of my craft supply (crap supply) bins and went a little crazy. The effect looks awesome, but the color can chip right off the glass - so I need to discover some kind of sealant or something.

thanks!

Thanks so much to everyone that placed orders in our Handmade Holiday pop-up shop!
I had a blast putting it together and have tons of ideas for making it bigger and better next year...
If you find yourself interested in an ornament or the purple tie dye shredded scarf, there's still some left and I've listed them on Etsy.

desert structure >>>

A few images from the tour of Frank Lloyd Wright's Taliesin West we took over Thanksgiving. I enjoyed learning about the apprenticeship program that takes place there and the desert shelters students create. Unfortunately we weren't allowed to photograph the living room which was my favorite! I wanted to take every single chair home with me...

Arizona Thanksgiving

Last week my Dad and I flew out to Phoenix to meet up with his family for Thanksgiving. It had been 6 years or more since I saw everyone. While at G-ma's I looked at a bunch of old photos, hung out with the cacti in her backyard and became educated on she and my step - grandfather Ray's pile of rocks. We went to Frank Lloyd Wright's Taliesin West one afternoon, which I really enjoyed - will share photos soon.

... VOGUE ...

I drank waaay too much coffee yesterday and laid in bed bug-eyed till 3 am. Thank goodness for the Youthquaker blog because looking at vintage Vogue editorials from the 60s and 70s is always amazing, especially in the early morning. Love the first image. I'm conjuring up a glass ear cuff idea...

fall in The Fan.

These past few weeks I've been taking the time to walk my orders to the post office instead of drive. Normally I feel rushed to get back home and work but my mind and body have been craving fresh air lately. A perfect time for it too, The Fan is always gorgeous in the fall. I'm sure it won't be long till we're freezing our noses off and I'll decide to drive but I'm enjoying this walking habit for now.
("The Fan" district got it's name based on the shape the streets create on a Richmond city map...)
