crazy daisies

This past week I was feeling really stressed out over a few wholesale orders and our upcoming move. Over the weekend, Stephen snuck a cheerful flower bouquet into my studio and things have been going smoothly ever since.
I really am a lucky girl!

floating in pink milk.

"Senegal's Lake Retba, or as the French refer to it Lac Rose, is pinker than any milkshake. Experts say the lake gives off its pink hue due to cyanobacteria, a harmless halophilic bacteria found in the water. Lake Retba has a high salt content, much like that of the Dead Sea, allowing people to float effortlessly in the massive pink water."

If it weren't for the high salt content drying out skin, I would gladly float in this all day long...

new home.

I've mentioned our new home on instagram but I need to make a proper post here about my excitement! When we visited Asheville in May we had had our eyes set on this one for quite some time. Stephen and I would show everyone the craigslist posting and refer to it as the dream house - "hey babe, have you heard from the dream house lady yet?!". When we saw it in person it lived up to our expectations and more. It is 3 times, maybe 4 times the amount of space we are used to in Richmond. Plus, it has an exterior studio large enough for both of us to work in. These little instagram shots show the front porch swing and little greenhouse (!!) out back.

Can't wait to share more after we the move in July. So soon!

/// random dyes \\\

Whenever I go thrifting I love to look for white and cream colored garments that I can throw into my dye baths. I've recently started to accumulate quite the pile so I thought I'd share here on the blog. Some pieces I will keep for myself, others I will sell while vending at music festivals this summer. It's so fun for me to experiment with random material - the blue dress for instance is actually a shirt meant for a 3X plus size. Paired with a shredded sash, it's super comfy and girly to wear. The silk scarves will most likely become something else ... once I dye a bunch more - wouldn't it be cool to sew them together as a caftan?

Our little trunk show today was wonderful. So fun to gab about jewelry with Caroline and Rachel! We met the most adorable ten month old named Tallula and I couldn't stop squealing. Also, I am the new proud owner of Caroline's sterling silver rings (totally into these non traditional shapes) and Rachel's cosmos necklace.
Thanks again for having us Quirk!
